Salt Mixes????

The first Reef Show suggestion to choosing a synthetic sea salt mix is that
you select the brand that is as close in composition to that of natural sea
water (NSW) with little to none of the unwanted impurities that may build up in
a closed eco-system.

GETTING RID OF BROWN HYDROIDS?

It has been a while since I wrote an article and that is why I am tackling one of the
nightmares of the Marine Reef Aquarium Hobby: The Brown Hydroid.

If? you ever had the Brown Hydroid (Class Hydrozoa) invade your reef tank
you know that they are a pests pest... and a search for treatment will only return the
greater nightmare of disassembling your reef and tossing all your live rock... that is ..
until this article!

overflow and closed loop

OVER FLOW AND CLOSED LOOP

the tank will only be viewable from one side and the bottom is tempered so i planned on
having the overflow come in halfway up the back then go up as a stand pipe?

place them as close to the bottom as possible. the intakes should
be 2 to 4 inches below water line in ovrflow. helps eliimate the suction of air and
therebye lowers micro bubbles.
water flow 8 to 10 times turnover should be a good start no?

yes.

yes theres a 29 gallon sump

DIY or PreBuilt?

the tank is not setup so budget is pretty far reaching ATM

i was thinking 4 returns and the ocean motions

excellent. they are the best PERIOD. use with Sequence DART.

the flexible pvc seals well against the bulkheads?

use only for INTAKES for closed loop. need TWO bulkheads - each 1
inch -? to feed Sequence Dart 2 inch pump intake. the pump out flow is 1 1/2 inch.
you plumb the out-flow through 1 1/2 inch hard pipe to 4 WAY intake then use ONE INCH PVC
for the 4 outputs of 4 WAY.? Be sure output returns from 4 way are under water.

should i get slip bulks and glue in a pvc stub to clamp the flexible to it?
yes, as above..
